Destination Photography Tours

Pop on over to the new website (and new blog) to find out more about this great idea. Go on a holiday in a great location and learn to take better photos while you're there. What's not to love about that idea?!

Destination Photography Tours

We're heading to Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers in September 2017 for some action packed days of photography, flowers and fun. Small group, a qualified photography teacher, a gardener, a mini bus to get to the best locations and an amazing historic homestead to stay in. And that's just in the first day! From the calm and wonder of Japanese Gardens to the colour and buzz of the Grand Floral Parade and rounded off with some spectacular fireworks, you'll pick up some great hints, tips and ideas to improve your photography. It's gonna be great. I hope you can join us.

Cheers
Deborah

PS. Other destinations coming real soon.

Photography Tours

Wild Honey Photography Adventure Learning. I've been toying with the idea of combining Holidays with learning or improving your photography for ages. This is the first step. A day out in the Yarra Valley, Victoria. Introductory price as it's next Saturday so not a lot of lead in time (my son set his hair on fire over christmas so I got a bit waylaid).

Keep an eye out for other tours coming up this year, including a 10 day trip to photograph Autumn Colours in Queenstown, New Zealand and a 3 day trip to Floriade in Canberra in Spring.
If you have any places you'd love to go to for a getaway and learn photography while you're there, hit me up in the comments and we just might be able to make it happen.
PS. My son is OK. Hell of a way to get a hair cut though.
Cheers and Happy New Year
Deborah

Thursday 25 September 2014

Well, that's a bit embarrassing...

It's been over a year since I've done anything on the blog. And all the things I said I was going to do in that last post, I still haven't done! I'm frantically scanning my mind in search of the last 14months. Gone, just like that. I think that's a reasonable sign that I've been just a bit too busy. It's taken me a while to get used to saying 'no' but I'm slowly getting the hang of it.
I feel extremely fortunate to have the best of two amazing worlds. My home, my business and my son are on the beautiful Sunshine Coast and my daughter and my photography teaching and a completely different lifestyle are in Melbourne. It does get a bit hectic trying to manage both (and blogging obviously is one of the things sacrificed!) but somehow it (mostly) works.
Anyway, I just thought I'd pop in and let you know I'm still alive. Wild Honey Photography is as busy as a beehive and Tracey and Helga are doing an awesome job keeping things ticking over while I buzz back and forth. I have big plans to take us into 2015 so watch this space. Hopefully I'll be back before another year slips by.

Busy. Blog Stalkers. And Bekky

(Reposted from one of my other blogs - with a couple of edits)

Happy New Financial Year (already I'm a day late!). My goal for the next 6 months is to not be as busy as the last 6 months so I have more time to do things I like doing. Like taking photos for fun and sharing them on the blog.

In other news, I've discovered in recent weeks that I have blog stalkers. On two separate occasions I've had contact with people I knew from years ago and had lost contact with, and both of them confessed to blog stalking me so they pretty much knew what I'd been up to (Hi, *waves*). Well, except for the last 6 months, as I've been too bloody busy to blog anything! So, if there's anyone still around who checks in occasionally, don't be a stranger, say Hi! Leave a comment or send me a message. It's nice to know there's someone out there who checks in every now and then.

Another goal looming is to tidy up my web presence. With 3 blogs, 2 websites, a couple of facebook pages, a name change and commuting between two states, the plan is to consolidate all the loose ends to have one cohesive approach. And hopefully I'll be able to update things a bit more often. I'll also be working with my clever baby girl a bit more as she sets forth in the career direction of her dreams.

So if you're a regular stalker, check out this link to see what Bekky's dream is. I'm so very proud of her. It's a pozible campain so if you're feeling philanthropic you might like to help her out. BUt even if you're feeling stingy, go and check out the video and have a giggle.

And if you want to see some more of her illustrations and some funny tram stories, have a look at this blog. Saint Damascus Blog

And don't forget to say hi.
(And I'll try and share some more photos soon!)

PS. If you want headshots (in Melbourne), check Bekky out (Bekky's facebook page). She took this one of me.

More than just a photo

Anyone can take a photo that shows what you look like. I like photos that show who you really are.
And I love it when my clients really 'get' my style.

Whether it be embracing the weather (see what i did there? lol).
  Or embracing each other.
Mum said the photo above (from a mini-session) exactly shows the craziness of their life at this point in time. It's always exciting when a client loves the same shots you do and she chose this one as the centrepiece of a collage. Mini-sessions are taken in the Park near the Wild Honey Studio in Aroona, near Caloundra, on the Sunshine Coast.

Or we can head to Moffat Beach for some family lifestyle portraits (below) and have some fun on the beach.

And once again, from a photographer's point of view, it's pure bliss when a client loves some of the more abstract shots (like the one below) as much as you do.

Sunshine Coast Family Portraits (for Christmas?)

How many weeks until Christmas?
Not enough!!!

When was the last time you had your family photographed professionally?  Is it time to update for Christmas? If you don't have time for a full location portrait session, we do Mini-Sessions at the park near the studio and we have a special offer on leading up to Christmas.

You have a 1/2 hour photo shoot in the park and choose one 8x12 inch print and get the hi-res digital file as well, all included for only $150. There's also a special offer on custom designed Christmas Cards but you'll have to be quick to get those in time.

Click here  to see one of our mini-sessions in the park or here for another one.

Don't let another year go by.
